Get to know her!

Manuella Guerra Canal is a Colombian American performer based in Orlando, Florida. Originally from Weston, Florida, she moved to Orlando to pursue her BFA in Musical Theatre and Performing Arts Administration minor from the University of Central Florida, which she will complete this May.

At UCF, she has performed on the Dr. Phillips Walt Disney Theatre stage as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Fruma Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof, and The Dragon in Shrek. Other favorite roles include Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Magenta US/Phantom in Rocky Horror, and Casey US in First Date.

A lover of travel, she attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art for their 8 Week Summer Shakespeare Course where she trained with professional Shakespearean actors from the Globe Theatre.

Alongside performing for 11 years, she has cultivated other hobbies. She grew up reading a book a day and playing mermaids in the pool. Her favorite books include The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Offstage, you can find her cooking or adding to her ultra specific playlists.

  • "And then there was UCF’s Manuella Guerra Canal, who stole the show through her commanding portrayal of ‘Mrs. Lovett’. EVERY single interaction and line she delivered on stage evoked a response – whether it was an inner emotion or feeling, or an outright burst of laughter. Canal’s acting was highly dynamic. She was loveable and likeable, even as her character was sliding into dark side of pie-making. Even as a criminal accomplice, she compelled me to still cheer for this character even throughout her deteriorating moral evolution, in large part due to the exceptional acting skills by Canal. At any given moment, she would effortlessly burst into song, and her voice would just carry – she had a beautiful voice, and at times you wouldn’t even notice that she was skillfully jumping between singing and speaking. Tonight, the stage was hers, and I was just very happy to be along for the ride!"
